This project aims to analyze and visualize global layoffs in the private sector for the years 2020-2023. The data was prepared and analysed using SQL and visualised using Tableau. The main focus of this project was to explore the trends in layoffs during the covid-19 pandemic and the years following that.
Data Analysis
The project attempted to answer the following questions via data analysis performed using SQL:- Which companies perform layoffs most often
- When do layoffs peak within a year?
- Is there any corolation between number of layoffs in global and that in the US?
- Top 5 industries affected the most globally?
- Industries/Countries with most companies ceased operations.
- In which stage of the company had the most lay-offs?
In my results I aggregated by year to show yearly trends in layoffs. Additional insights were derived when I compared layoffs in the US to the Global market.
